Meet me in the Middle ~ Erin Hunt

cd review by Live Music Head
January 2009

A few months ago
Erin Hunt and I became MySpace friends.
I’d never heard
her name before,
but after listening to a single track of her music
I became an instant fan.
As soon as I got the notice her new recording was finished,
I bought it immediately,
and I’ve been listening to it over and over all week.
With this lyric,
track one grabs my attention straight off the top...
“Somewhere there’s a man who believes in The Woman That I Am
Hard to find in a world full of people who ain’t half the man I am”.
And with a smooth mix of pop, soul, rhythm and blues
“If I Could Go Back to those days…”
sure does have me going back;
back to the early days of Gladys Knight and the Pips
and Aretha Franklin, that is.
On this well produced 6-track EP of original material,
“put The Weight on me…
you know it’s alright if you need me”
is another standout with
Hunt’s strong vocals accompanied by
three guitars, a piano, organ, bass, drums, percussion,
trumpet, tenor sax, and trombone.
What a pleasure to discover a new artist;
a new artist with the ability to move me
doesn't happen too often anymore.
Being Erin Hunt is local,
I’m really looking forward to being moved by her
live on stage, and in person.
As soon as I find out where
I hope to see you all there!
