Led Zeppelin II ~ Classic Albums Live
Led Zeppelin II ~
Classic Albums Live
The Rapids Theatre,
Niagara Falls NY

by Live Music Head
With free parking, free coat check
and complimentary tickets,
the 90 minute road trip to get there was a no-brainer.
With a domelike ceiling of old world decor,
great sound and a warm glow,
I was happy as a bee in a honeycomb.
For the Rapids Theatre is a great venue for a show.
Despite boarded up businesses
and the lonely streets of recession-laden Niagara surrounding it,
the audience inside the Rapids was large, lively and enthusiastic.
And with Classic Albums Live in town, why wouldn’t it be?
There’s simply no better cover band anywhere on earth.
With pints of Guinness in hand, three chicks were ready to rock,
and when the lights went down and the 6-piece appeared
“You need coolin', baby, I'm not foolin'.
Performing the second album by Led Zeppelin perfectly,
all eyes were fixed on the stage.
And the crowd sang along to every word, moan and groan
that came sputtering out of Nick Hildyard’s microphone.
There`s a cool Gray guitarist playing at stage left,
And behind him, a woman in a rock band such as this?
But I guess, “if the mountains should crumble to the sea”
Lindsay Clark is the one to play the keys.
For me, the night was all about the drums.
From the number one cock rock anthem opening up the show
to the trancelike beat of Kashmir to close,
Rick Vatour shook me to my toes.
Not only putting forth all his heart, strength and sweat
but rousing us with flying sticks and muscle kisses.
Moby Dick was prob’ly my favourite of them all
along with the groovy Yannetta bass of the Lemon Song.
And as far as the outros go,
I send my thanks to the ever-charming Dom Polito.
Not only for his great guitar and theramin work,
but for opening the second set with my song request.
I told the American CAL fans we met...
“I actually prefer experiencing live music Stateside;
I leave Toronto to do it all the time.
But just remember,
Classic Albums Live belongs to Canada, dammit...
Canada!”
