Bob Dylan's Christmas Album
Bob Dylan's Christmas In The Heart
by Live Music Head
October 2009
David Fricke says, it’s a gift of "sincerity".
Sincerity?
I thought it was a joke when I first heard about it.
And then it turned out to be true!
"Ugh," I say
After hearing Letterman’s admission of guilt over sex play,
with his staff on last night’s Late Show,
I’d give an award to Dave before Bob when it comes to sincerity.
The only thing good about this record is
the proceeds are going to charity.
That's it, that's all.
Yet, I can’t see a whole lot of money going to charity
when no one in their right mind would buy this.
Seeing the words Santa Claus, Elvis and Bob Dylan
in the same paragraph,
makes me wish I never read Fricke's review.
I was in a bad enough mood already,
but hearing Bob Dylan sing
Here Comes Santa Claus, Here Comes Santa Claus
finished me off.
I hated it from the get-go,
and it just gets worse with each song.
I won’t be torturing my ears with that again.
Sadly, young music lovers who haven’t yet discovered Dylan
will hear this record and have no trouble
casting his musical genius aside,
without ever listening to any of his other work.
Not to mention, if Dylan was to drop dead tomorrow
this piece of crap would be the last musical thing he’s done.
If I was writing a review in Rolling Stone,
it would simply say this...
“If you want to get really depressed,
listen to Bob Dylan’s Christmas album...
It's music to shoot yourself in the head by.”
